The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (Minister Moon Sung-hyuk) and the Korea Institute of Oceans and Fisheries Development (Director Jang Young-tae) announced on the 18th that they will hold the establishment of the "Korea Fisheries Food Distribution Forum" online on the 19th.
The forum is designed to promote win-win cooperation between producers and distributors in response to the rapidly changing distribution environment of fisheries food and to establish a cooperative system such as development and commercialization of distribution businesses.
The forum will be co-chaired by Lim Joon-taek, chairman of the Korea Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, and Jang Young-tae, president of the Korea Maritime Institute. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Korea Federation of Fisheries Managers, the Korea Consumer Federation, the Korea Online Shopping Association, and the Korea Chain Store Association will participate as members.
At the inaugural event, the forum will share the background of its foundation and future operations, and sign a win-win cooperation agreement to eradicate the distribution and consumption of illegal, unreported and unregulated fisheries products so that the fisheries food distribution industry can have a sustainable growth base.
With the establishment of the forum, it is expected that the fisheries food distribution industry will be suitable for the fast-growing non-face-to-face economic era and establish a virtuous cycle system in which illegal catches are not consumed in the market.
Following the forum's opening ceremony, a policy communication relay will be held under the chairmanship of Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Moon Sung-hyuk, involving distribution and processing companies. Communication Relay is a program in which ministers meet companies in each field in person to listen to the vivid voices of industrial sites and reflect them in policies. It will be held for the third time after it was held for port logistics companies on the 13th.
In this communication relay, Yamtable, an online distributor of fisheries products, and Eunha Fisheries will present best practices for distributing fisheries products online and discuss the future direction of distribution with the distribution industry and academia.
